Throughout the third quarter of 2022, the top music and audio applications on the Android platform in Kenya showcased diverse performance trends. Here’s a detailed look at how the top five apps fared.

Spotify: Music and Podcasts experienced a robust quarter in terms of downloads and active users. Weekly downloads peaked at approximately 67K in early September before tapering off to around 42K by the end of the month. Active users showed a gradual increase, starting at 233K and reaching a peak of about 253K in mid-September.

Boomplay: Music & Live Stream saw a steady performance with weekly downloads fluctuating between 35K and 63K. The app's active users remained relatively stable, starting the quarter at 607K and ending at 632K. Revenue showed minor variations, with weekly earnings ranging from $34 to $63.

Spotify for Podcasters exhibited notable growth in both downloads and active users. Downloads surged to a high of 40K in mid-September before dropping to 13K by the end of the month. Active users followed a similar trend, peaking at around 99K in mid-September and then declining to 74K in late September.

Shazam: Find Music & Concerts maintained a consistent performance throughout the quarter. Weekly downloads ranged from 11K to 18K, while active users fluctuated slightly, starting at 138K and ending at 137K.

Music Player & MP3 Player also showed a steady increase in both downloads and active users. Weekly downloads grew from 7.6K at the start of the quarter to around 16K by mid-September. Active users mirrored this growth, increasing from 122K to 157K over the same period.
